The 2013 Tenth Circuit Bench & Bar Conference will be held at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.
The room block closed on July 23, 2013, however you may still contact The Broadmoor to check availability of the conference rate. To make a reservation call 1-800-634-7711 and ask to register in the block for the “U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.” Cancellations or changes must be made one week before arrival in order to avoid a one night’s room charge.
The conference rate is $273/night plus 9.63% tax and 2.47% public improvement fee. A separate resort fee will be charged at a rate of $16 per day for single occupancy and $2.50 per day for each additional occupant.

U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor will be the featured speaker at this year’s Fireside Chat. She will join Circuit Judge Stephanie Seymour and Pete Williams of NBC News for an onstage interview.
Approval of continuing legal education credit for this program has been requested from the states within the Tenth Circuit: Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wyoming. Attendees are individually responsible for obtaining CLE credit in any other jurisdiction. Forms for both in- and out-of-circuit CLE credit will be available at the conference registration desk.
This course has been approved by the Colorado State Board of Continuing Legal & Judicial Education for 15 hours of General credits and 3.6 Ethics credits.
This course has been approved by the Kansas CLE Commission for a maximum of 15 hours of CLE credits, including 3.5 Ethics & Professionalism credits and 1.0 credit in Law Practice Management (30 Tech Tips for Every Day on Sat, 8/31/13).

This year the Judiciary has instituted a new program for centrally tracking conference-related expenditures. The new program requires all judges and other judiciary employees to include a unique code when submitting expenses related to the conference.

Carol Sefren, Chief of the AO’s Judges Compensation and Retirement Services Office and her staff will be offering individual benefits and retirement counseling sessions for Circuit, District, Bankruptcy and Magistrate judges and their spouses during the conference. These optional 30-45 minute sessions include personalized benefits materials for each judge, no matter what stage of their career. On the registration site, judges will be asked if they would like to sign up for one of these optional sessions. The times on the registration site are approximate windows. A member of Carol’s staff will contact each judge who signs up to schedule a specific time and place for the meeting.
